Ganga Sagar Mela is one of India’s major annual pilgrimage gatherings. It takes place at Sagar Island in South 24 Parganas, West Bengal, where devotees visit the sacred confluence associated with the River Ganga and the Bay of Bengal.
During Makar Sankranti, pilgrims travel to Ganga Sagar for the sacred Punya Snan, followed by prayers and Darshan at Kapil Muni Temple.

We recommend an early departure because traffic becomes very heavy during the Ganga Sagar Mela period.
Travel towards the Ganga Sagar ferry sector by private vehicle.
Depending on government traffic arrangements during the Mela, vehicles may be stopped or diverted before the normal ferry point. Our team will guide you according to the instructions applicable on the travel date.
After reaching the designated ferry area, our representative will assist you with the ferry crossing towards Kachuberia, Sagar Island.

This is the most important day of the pilgrimage.
Wake up early and proceed towards the sacred Ganga Sagar Sangam.
Take the traditional holy dip during Makar Sankranti according to your religious belief and personal comfort.
Senior citizens should take extra care near the water and follow all instructions issued by the local administration and safety personnel.
After the holy dip, proceed towards Kapil Muni Temple for prayers and Darshan.
Our team will assist with directions and coordination as far as local rules and crowd conditions permit.
Return to your accommodation after Darshan.
Freshen up and have breakfast.
After breakfast and rest, check out from the accommodation.
Proceed towards Kachuberia using the available local transportation arranged according to government traffic regulations.
Our team will assist with the return ferry crossing.
Waiting periods are possible because 15 January is expected to be one of the busiest pilgrimage days.
After reaching the mainland, continue to Kolkata by the arranged vehicle.
Drop will be provided at the agreed Kolkata location.
